All Playable Races 5e
5e Racial HandbookIn the world of the Forgotten Realms, there are a great number of races, of all shapes, sizes, and walks of life. Presented in the official Player's Handbook are but a few of the possibilities of race which a character might have. This supplement exists to help increase the number of options for player character creation, for stories and games involving more than just the most common, or nicest, of races.Within, you will find new subraces for the Dwarf, Gnome, and Halfling, as well as a great many new race options.
However, there are playable races for D&D scattered around in a few different locations in published products that people may not even know about. What are all the playable races, and where can one find each? To be clear, we're talking about first party D&D 5e materials published by Wizards of the Coast. DnD 5e - Races Disclaimer. I will use the color coding scheme which has become common among Pathfinder build handbooks, which is simple to understand and easy to read at a glance. Red: Bad, useless options, or options which are extremely situational. Orange: OK options, or useful options that only apply in rare circumstances; Green: Good options. Race list for Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition OrcPub is a free, online Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition (D&D 5e) character builder/generator and other tools to keep the game flowing smoothly.
Some of these options include strange or normally evil races, who could be used either in an alternate setting, to tell a story of redemption, or to play out an evil campaign. There are presently over 40 options available for players and DMs to choose from, including Catfolk, Half-Giants, Goblins, Kobolds, and much much more.Enjoy This Product? If you like this product, please check out my other works that are also available for free:UPDATED State of the Product (April 29, 2019)Thank you once more for all who supported, and especially those who paid for this product. After 3 years, the author is beginning to make changes to the races that are present in this book with a new Revised edition. This product will also be PWYW, so you do not have to worry about paying twice if you already gave money to support this once. Included in the Revised version will also be new races not included in this PDF. Please be patient while things are worked out. Hello everyone. I am sorry for the very long silence.
I had fallen out of favor with 5th Edition for quite some time, but I have been back for a while, and believe it is about time for this product to be updated. As not only do I find myself dissatisfied with some of these races, but obviously some have officially been published since this PDF's inception, I will be making a Revised edition as a separate product (also Pay What You Want, so you don't have to 'pay twice' if you don't wish to).
Please be patient, as this project is still in the works, but if you have ideas for races you would like to see, please let me know. Sorry for the late responses once more. I have made a note about the future of this product in the description, along with an apology. However, I have made this product free free to make up for my inaction. I don't want anyone to feel guilted by my words into paying any amount, or potentially misled (I can't edit the PDF at the current rate).

The intention was never to really make money off of this anyways.I would like to thank you all for your support and kind words, and I encourage you to use and alter these races as you see fit for your own products as long as it is credited or sufficiently altered. Obviously, most of them are not of my own creation even if I came up with their features for 5th edition. For those wondering what the holdup is, I have indeed been trying to write material for the races in my spare time. Problem is other projects coming in the way, and the fact that I have very little confidence as an actual writer. I am better (I think, anyways) at writing crunch, and I can come up with backstories and information, but writing it out extensively is not my strong suit. Please know that I will still be trying to write out the material.
I have gotten enough people purchasing the product to reach the goal I set for myself. Hyfin vent compact chest seal. Just know that it is taking me a lot of time. Currently making a transition to the newest version of this product. Almost every race has been updated in some way, and some formatting issues have been fixed.
As I write this, you may be waiting for the text file to be updated.Going forward, I am going to be updating the races to include a more expansive lore. This is going to take a lot of time, so your patience is asked.
I'm not sure yet if it will be posted as its own thing, or simply updated here. It would probably be too difficult to follow the updates as they will be sporadic and great in number. Just wanted to say that I appreciate Carlton took the time to write a review for the product despite their very apparent dislike of it. Honest feedback is better than fake praise.
I would like to posit a question asking them which races in particular they found balance issues with, however, and in which direction (overpowered, underpowered?)I would also like to make two points based on their review:1. The guidelines for making new races in the DMG practically do not exist. And if what they meant was the suggestions for NPC racial bonuses, those don't really fit with general PC guidelines, and also are very lackluster for PC options. I personally was greatly saddened by the fact that there are very little racial options that have been presented in 5th Edition beyond the PHB, as well. Even in the Monster Manual, which has always had race options, and with the DMG providing only 2 additional options to players, one of which is considered by many to be very lackluster.2.
If I were indeed. See more going through the images provided by WoTC, I wouldn't need to look for artwork for the book. It actually came as a surprise to me that I found the three artworks to use on the cover, all of which were of races included. There is also the Stonechild, which I didn't notice until after this was published.

The choices I made were based on what I thought could creature unique or interesting PCs, stat combinations, were popular races in previous editions, or were suggestions from players in my games. As some examples: -I chose the Xvart to be one of the races because it was such a silly monster, and was originally an extremely weak race that actually gave you a +1 level boost essentially for picking it since it was so bad. I found that interesting, and the way that it had changed so much through editions.-I chose the catfolk because a player of mine wanted to play some sort of half-cat race.
While it would be easy just to take the stats from another race and call it that, why do that when such a race existed in the game before already? Not only that, but their character would have their own unique aspect besides just looking different.-And as my final example, I chose the Feral Halfling because a friend of mine wished to play a race that was both small, but also strong.

Unfortunately in 5e especially (using the point buy system), your race actually means a lot to your character's stats. You are severely weaker than another character if you don't gain a boost to your main stat from your race. So, what small race would be strong, but a ferocious cousin of the halfling? (Based off of the Dark Sun's lore of halflings)With that said, I look forward to more feedback, so that I may create a more enjoyable product for everyone. Hello, the creator here.
Please feel free to leave a comment or rating for this product. As it stands, I am allowing others to have this product for free, both due to a lack of expanded lore, and because a lot of this is untested.
If you have any problems with the races as written, please let me know so I can come up with a solution. Also, if you have any suggestions for races to tackle next, that would be appreciated as well.I personally enjoy having a large variety of races to choose from in my games, especially more exotic ones. I would expand the lore currently, but it is already a large task considering the number of races presented here, and I'm not even sure if there is enough demand from players. As it stands, a lot of the blanks can be filled in with the Monster Manual, or with your own story. If I get enough feedback asking for it, or enough sales on this product, I will do my best to increase the information for each individual race, as well as expand the list. This product.
See more will always be available, and optionally free for users, as-is. Even if I make other, similar projects, or if I make a greatly expanded version available for purchase in the future.
2).Natural Armor: Your skin is tough and scaly. When you’re not wearing armor your AC would be 13+ your dexterity modifier. This race sees the little need to plan more than the season or else into the future. To maintain their current level of influence in the world, this approach allows them. But it does limit their growth. This race doesn’t have interest in developing the skills such as writing, making the long-term plans, cultivating other methods which are for progress beyond their simple existence like the hunters and also gatherers.
HAPLESS SOFT ONES:At their own core, this lizardfolk view the other humanoids with an indifference verging on a pity. These are born into the world lacking stout scales and also sharp teeth. For so long they have been managed to survive and it is very wonder. In the swamps the typical human would barely make it through a day.Still, if any of the other creatures will prove useful to this lizardfolk, then those creatures would be trigger a protective response made and all the stronger by their apparent weakness. This race assess as beings like hatchlings and the young ones who incapable of protecting themselves but who might prove useful in the future if they have received care.
