Well, Sol can heal and do some damage, while Aelthalyste is only damage. Which do you need the most? Which is better for YOU?Same goes for all other classes.That is for the missions, not specifically bodyguards.But it does kind of show you which ones don't put a dent in your counters, like Koltira is a body guard for DKs but using him as one would take out one of your two options for countering minions.Its basically, if you want to be optimal use this bodyguard or this one, but this other one is needed for missions.
Why didn't you put that in the first post then? As Oni wrote above, some might use combat allies for missions instead of as CA, because it suits them better, but you asked about best CA/bodyguard and nothing else.Yeahh, what the OP said, it was pretty obvious. Addie is close to it, it depends how much you value shorter mission time. (I thought about the 24hr-48hr missions and decided I'd like to hold onto Addie and use her in missions). How can a bodyguard be the best, if using him makes it so you struggle to complete future missions at 200%?To me, asking about the CA/Bodyguard means you intend to use it as such and NOT for whatever effect it may or may not have on your mission-running. Good example of that is in the druid forum. Some say Keeper Remulos has a 10 million damage ability on a 3 minute cooldown and that makes him good. Then there are some, myself included, that think Thisalee is better, because she will always buff you. That's a personal choice, but does that make either of them better, as a combat ally, than the other? They're equally good. If you don't need the buff from Thisalee and what little damage she does when fighting, you could take Remulos and wipe out rare elites in seconds.
But if you're just starting to get geared and the mobs are a little bit too harsh on you, the constant buff might be what you need to survive if you accidently pull extra mobs. Pick what fits YOU, not what fits a list of 'this is the best', because you might not agree.
