Song MeaningSo the general meaning of this song is both subtle and strong but packed with meaning.Sway Lee’s verse talks about how he has a big amount of money to keep a girl as well as sexual pleasures. But he didn’t take the relationship seriously. She left him and it hurt, but he continuously plays down her feelings like “screaming at my face baby don’t trip” his lack of affection is a big deal for her and he’s telling her to just calm down.

She loved him and he didn’t care too much about it. “Someone too a L, don’t know how that felt.” She lost. Not him.Whereas Posty is a little bit deeper. He basically says that he’s always gone and he feels bad about not being around.
He knows that there’s a constant tug of war between his career and his lover. The correct quote is: “fighting for my trust and you won’t back down, even if we gotta risk it all right now.” Which there he means: that there was trouble in the relationship leading to lack of trust.
When he’s not there’s it’s impossible for his lover to know what’s up with him. She doesn’t feel important. But regardless he is stating the option to “risk it all” and either quit his career and choose her or risk losing her and keep his career.Sway Lee is talking about being with a girl just sexually whereas Posty is diving deeper into the roots about his struggles with love. The chorus and song title reference the word “Sunflower” as a metaphor for this type of woman. A sunflower is a happy joyous plant that requires the perfect amount of sun and care all the time. Sway Lee’s words could be similar to just watering the plant.

Jan 8, 2015 - Yes, it is possible, but there is a caveat: before you begin highlighting, you have to enable a feature called Copy Selected text into Highlight,. How can I copy text that is already highlighted? Odd that Acrobat doesn't allow it. After all, highlighted text has been identified as important, so.
Keeping it going but only to see it die quickly. Like it’s not the most important thing. He just waters this flower when he can remember to.
Whereas Posty’s words are talking about the sun’s rays and nutrients. If post chose her, he’d have to give it the perfect amount of sun, nutrients, water, the soil would have to be perfect. A very high maintenance type of care routine.“You’ll be left in the dust unless I stuck by you.”- if you just leave a plant there after you plant it it couldn’t survive on it’s own.“You’re a sunflower, I think your love would be too much.”- you’re a needy flower, you require too much time and attention and it’s too much for me.“You’re a sunflower” vs “you’re the sunflower.” -there’s always one person in a relationship who tends to be the more affectionate/needs affection type of perfection.Bottom line is, you can’t grow a garden when you rarely tend to it. Either put the effort into making it grow, or let someone else take over for you. And don’t be like Sway Lee. Don’t waste someone’s time.
Same goes for both genders. Hearts are not toys. General CommentI agree with the well written comments here, just one thing to add:Sunflowers follow the sun. They'll move with the suns rays to catch more light.
I think the artists are considering themselves the sun (and a lot of relationships end up this way, with one person worshiping the other), and the girl is the sunflower since she'll turn to them to get affection no matter the state of the relationship. It's a shitty dynamic both for the person who's the subject of affection ('I think your love would be too much') and the person who's so focused on not losing them. No one wins in this kind of relationship.

General CommentWho knew Swae Lee could sing like this!? I mean, I always knew he was a talented rapper but now that he is breaking out of his shell and singing more I am so impressed. I’m loving this collaboration between Post Malone and Swae Lee and I need them to work together more because every time they do, they produce pure gold. This song overall just has the best vibe, it’s fun, it has a catchy beat, and it’s so lighthearted. It’s just a feel good song that you want to sing along to.
While the name of the song is sunflower, we all know this song has nothing to do with a flower, it’s about a girl. A mystery girl at that. A girl who is persistent in finding love even if she’s not shown the affection that she deserves. This song begs the question – who are these boys singing about? Do either one of these guys have a secret relationship that we don’t know about? Also, can we not ignore the fact that this song is for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse, in theaters December 14. First of all, who isn’t a fan of the Spiderman movies.
Secondly, who isn’t a fan of Post Malone? This fun, whimsical song will be perfect in Spiderman and I can’t wait to how the song fits into the movie. General CommentSunflower is basically a, 'why we won't work type song.' Sunflower is the relationship. In order to keep a sunflower alive you have to tend to it and give it what it needs to flourish. Like a relationship, you need to give it time and attention to make it last forever. If not the sunflower dies/ relationship ends.Being in a relationship with Swae Lee wouldn't work cause he'll never take it as serious as her.
He basically just wants to smash. He knows he's capable of loving her the way she should be loved, but would rather make money his main priority over her. He obviously feels something for her cause he's hurt once they split, but that's just not enough for him to change his M.O.B (Money over bitches) frame of mind. For Post, who is obviously the true gentleman out of the two, wants to give her what she deserves, but his career takes up all his time. He's torn over the two.
