During its PlayStation 4 announcement, Sony revealed that users will be able play online games before they are finished downloading to the system. Gaikai showed off a feature like this last year, but Sony tells us it doesn't use Gaikai's service, but rather secondary background processors.

Additionally, the system has the ability to download games in the background, even while it is powered off, using the same chip. Sony says that users can even upload videos to the internet while playing games using the system's secondary background processors. This should make it easier for players to share their gameplay on social networks in near realtime.

I have had the game since Tuesday trying to get it installed on my PS4. There is just a pause button on the game when I try to install it. I've tried deleting it and reinstalling and same thing happens. How PlayStation 4’s play-as-you-download feature works. Console enables them to play games while they’re downloading. Was able to split the PS4 download into a single-player campaign. Jan 01, 2015  it's a very annoying way about things. I'm not sure what makes it necessary. I mean, something like NHL15 will download what is essentially a demo so that you can either play CHI vs NYR over and over or just turn the game off and do something else while the game downloads. Not sure why some games take the opposite approach and rather than give.

The PS4 features a low power state that automatically saves games for users, so they don't have to worry about saving their progress when they hit the pause button.
